Determine your role in MIST by selecting the option that fits you best.

Competitor

A student representing their high school and participating in MIST competitions.

  • Must be 13–18 years old

  • Must be enrolled in high school

  • Students who are 13 but in 8th grade must contact the registration team before the registration deadline for eligibility review if they wish to compete

Captain
 A competitor who manages their team’s registration and serves as the main point of contact. Captains are responsible for ensuring teammates are registered on time, enrolled in the correct competitions, and that the team’s registration is finalized. Captains must be approved before managing registration.

Coach

A team supervisor responsible for supporting and overseeing students during the tournament.

  • Each team must have 1 coach for every 10 students under 18

  • The primary coach must be 21 or older

  • Additional coaches must be at least 18 years old

Guest

A non-competing attendee who is part of the school group but not participating in competitions. Guests must register with their school’s team and count toward the coach-to-student ratio. Guests may attend workshops and spectate competitions where permitted.
