What is MIST?

The Muslim Inter-Scholastic Tournament (MIST)™ is a fun, educational, interactive program of competitions and workshops geared towards bringing high school students together from around the nation to develop leadership, communication, and other creative skills, all while gaining a deeper understanding of Islam and Muslims.

The Muslim Inter-Scholastic Tournament (MIST)™ consists of annual Regional Tournaments that take place in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, DC, Irvine, Philadelphia, New Brunswick, New York City, Houston, Nashville, Orlando, Richmond, Southernand Northern California, and Toronto.  The winners from each Regional Tournament qualify to compete at the annual National Tournament.  The tournaments last two to three days, ending with the Awards Ceremony on the final night.  The Muslim Inter-Scholastic Tournament (MIST)™ currently features 31 different competitions.

The Muslim Inter-Scholastic Tournament was first created in Houston, Texas in 2001 by a young woman who felt that the Muslim youth in the community needed a place where they could promote peace and understanding, try to get rid of the cliques that are often seen in high schools, and learn more about themselves and their faith through different types of competitions and workshops. MIST is not proudly hosted in 15 regions across the United States and Canada.

MIST New Jersey was established in 2015. MIST NJ is hosting its first ever regional tournament March 25th-27th. See you then!
