Mariam Catovic is the 2016-2017 Associate Director for MIST New Jersey. Catovic is a Junior majoring in Industrial and Systems Engineering at Rutgers University (mashAllah). She is 50% Egyptian, 25% Bosnian, 12.5% Scottish, and 12.5% English! She is PSYCHED for MIST NJ because she has participated in MIST before with her high school, Noor-Ul-Iman. Mariam is super excited to see the creative talent that NJ Muslim high school students have to offer! NJ Represent!!!

Hi, I’m Hira and I’m currently a senior studying dietetics. What I love about MIST is how it’s a great platform for the youth to help showcase thier talent while also learning and having fun. But the best part is the energy and hype created by the competitors, the volunteers, and the organizers. The worst part is an unfortunate case of PMD which you may or may not suffer from. Fun fact: I may or may not be allergic to cherries..

Tareq is currently a sophomore planning to double major in Finance and Accounting. He also is pursuing a career in Law as well and plans to go for his J.D. after graduating Rutgers. He loves MIST becuase of the pure competitive nature that brings out the very best in every single competitor and even organizers. Meherunisa Nawaz is a freshman at the Rutgers Business School and is still trying to get her life together and figure out a specific major. She loves MIST because aside from all the talent and unity the weekend has to offer, it’s straight up loads of fun (even if you do lose your voice) and it’s a great outlet for making long lasting friends. Fun fact: Meherunisa can’t survive without her cat or chocolate.

His favorite thing about MIST is that it provides a platform for high schoolers from all over their region to meet with each other, and it bring out the competitiveness and creativity in all the competitors. Now, before I get to the important stuff, I thought I should mention how I was quite possibly in your position before I became a part of the mist-erious be-you-ty that is MIST. Yes, I’m talking to you, person reading my blurb. If you are reading this with the interest of joining MIST, then let me just tell you that it will possibly/probably/most likely be one of the best experiences you can take part in, especially as a freshman. B e l i e v e me. Am I biased? Maybe, maybe not, sue me. Just understand that your part in this organization is gonna be hyugeeee. I didn’t even know what I was doing or even know what in the world MIST was, yet I still applied with the hopes that I can learn more inshallah, and boy oh boy did I learn more :D.
